Add Captions creates a new video with styled subtitles burned into the picture. You can add animated captions, create clean standard subtitles, or translate the spoken content and render translated subtitles on the video.

When to use

  • Add social-style captions to a short video, Reel, TikTok or YouTube Short.

  • Make a video easier to watch without sound.

  • Translate spoken content into another language and show the translation as subtitles.

  • Create readable subtitles when you do not need dubbing or lip sync.

Limits

Mirage templates

Animated caption styles for short vertical videos.

MP4/MOV, vertical 9:16, up to 50 MB and 5 minutes.

Standard templates

Reliable subtitles for more file types and longer videos.

Up to 10 minutes.

Translated captions

Subtitles translated into another language.

Uses Standard templates and supports videos up to 10 minutes.

ℹ️ If you enable Translate captions, the app switches to Standard templates automatically because translated subtitles are rendered by VocaLingo.

How to run

  1. Open Add Captions from the Tools tab.

  2. Choose a video from your device, paste a link, or send a video from another VocaLingo tool.

  3. Open the Template tab and choose Mirage or Standard templates.

  4. Optional: turn on Translate captions and choose the target language.

  5. Adjust Standard settings if needed: font size, position, text color and background color.

  6. Tap Add Captions. Wait for upload to finish; after that processing continues on the server.

What you get

The result is a new MP4 video with captions rendered into the video. When it is ready, it appears in History and VocaLingo can notify you by push notification and email.

From the result screen you can play the captioned video, download it, save it to gallery on mobile, or share it with another app.

How much it costs

Mirage templates cost about 15 tokens per started minute. Standard and translated captions are calculated from speech recognition, optional translation and subtitle rendering, so the exact estimate is shown before you start.
